Georgiou is an Associate Lecturer in Sports & Exercise Science at the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus), where he also serves as Module Leader for 'Advanced principles of exercise and training.' He holds a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science (2022), an MSc in Biomedical Science (2016), and a BSc in Human Biology (2012). His research focuses on physiology, strength conditioning, and cellular genetics, with publications in journals like the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism and PLoS ONE. He has received an award for his 2024 conference presentation on β-alanine supplementation effects. His teaching emphasizes evidence-based approaches to exercise science and training methodologies.
- Education:
- BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, UCLan Cyprus (2022)
- MSc Biomedical Science (Immunology), University of Nicosia (2016)
- BSc Human Biology, University of Nicosia (2012)
His research interests span physiology and metabolism, strength and conditioning, and cellular biology/genetics. His 2024 article synthesized evidence on β-alanine's role in high-intensity exercise, while earlier work explored genomic interactions between copy number variations and microRNAs. He actively engages in academic conferences, balancing research with teaching responsibilities in Cyprus.
