George Choueiri

George Choueiri is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at the University of Toledo's College of Engineering, where he leads the Complex Fluid Flows Laboratory. His research spans experimental fluid mechanics and heat transfer with applications ranging from natural systems to industrial processes.

His research focuses on complex fluid phenomena including natural and mixed convective heat transfer, turbulent drag reduction, buoyancy effects, and instabilities in complex fluid flows (dilute polymer solutions and particle-laden flows). His work has significant applications in natural systems (inundated rivers, pollution dispersion), medical contexts (blood flows around catheters), and industrial settings (fluid transport through pipes, cementing of oil wells, heat transfer in nuclear reactors).

Dr. Choueiri's research output shows strong trends in experimental methods for studying fluid instabilities, with particular emphasis on annular channel flows, polymer additives, and droplet dynamics.
