George Austin, DPA, is the Department Chair for Public Administration at Liberty University's Helms School of Government. He previously served as the DPA Program Director and adjunct faculty member at the institution. Dr. Austin retired from law enforcement in 2023 after over 30 years of service, including seven years as a Police Chief in the Atlanta metro area and 25 years as a Captain in a major city police department. His command roles spanned Patrol, Administration, Watch Command, and Internal Affairs. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police and Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.
