Georg Winter is a visiting professor from the Academy of Fine Arts Saar (Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar) in Germany, currently teaching at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (HUFA) during the 2024 International Week. Funded by the Ludwig Sponsorship Award, he conducts an English-language course on Promenadology, exploring interdisciplinary methods for artistic engagement in social processes.
Winter redefines sculptural art by merging it with action art, rejecting classical three-dimensional material constraints to investigate art's societal relevance. His Promenadology (or Strollology) framework develops nomadic practices where participants transform places, languages, and objects through courageous artistic research. This approach challenges institutional boundaries between art and life, directly engaging with contemporary social concerns while broadening creative horizons.
His recognition includes:
- Ludwig Sponsorship Award (funding his HUFA residency)
Winter mentors HUFA students in promenadological exercises that foster skill development for uncertain times, emphasizing Carl Einstein's principle that "miracles are a question of training." His work cultivates interdisciplinary collaboration where artistic forms are negotiated, shared, and repurposed to address participants' immediate contexts.
