Prof. Georg Winkel is a Professor of Forest & Nature Conservation Policy at Wageningen University & Research. He holds a PhD and Habilitation from the University of Freiburg, with prior roles as Head of Research Programmes at the European Forest Institute and Associate Professorships. His research focuses on forest policy, environmental governance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key interests include sustainable finance, ecosystem services, and policy evaluation. He has authored over 80 academic publications and advises organizations like the National Park Hunsrück and the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. Recent work includes analyses of the EU Taxonomy and equitable policy frameworks.
