Dr. Georg Nöffke is a Lecturer in the English Department at the University of Tübingen and has been affiliated with the University of Pretoria since 2010. His primary academic roles include teaching and research in literary studies, with a focus on Anglophone literatures and Global South perspectives. He holds a PhD and MA in English Literature from the University of Pretoria.
His research interests span Twentieth-century literature, Sylvia Plath studies, modernism/postmodernism, film theory, and cinematic adaptations of Shakespeare, particularly from Global South contexts. Recent teaching includes a 2023 seminar on 'Global Modernisms' at Tübingen and undergraduate/postgraduate courses at Pretoria on topics like modernism, postcolonialism, and literary theory.
Nöffke has presented at international conferences such as the Sylvia Plath Society symposium (2022) and the University of South Africa’s 'Time' conference (2016). He served as Editorial Assistant for the English Academy Review (2014–2018). His publications analyze film narratives and Sylvia Plath’s poetry, emphasizing themes of silence, identity, and intertextuality.
