Georg Kofler

Georg Kofler is Professor of Tax Law, Tax Law, and Tax Policy at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria, with over 20 years of professional experience in taxation. His academic career includes positions at the International Department of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance (2002–2003, 2009), Adjunct Professor at the University of Linz (2001–2006), and Acting Adjunct Professor of Tax Law at New York University School of Law (2006–2008).

Professor Kofler's research focuses on Tax Law, International Taxation, European Taxation, and Austrian Taxation. His expertise is reflected in his extensive publications and lectures on these subjects, with particular emphasis on the intersection of national tax systems within international and European frameworks. His scholarly work addresses contemporary challenges in tax policy and legislation across multiple jurisdictions.

He maintains significant professional affiliations including membership in the Standing Scientific Committee (PSC) of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the Tax Committee of DA-CH, and service as an alternate member of CFE Tax Advisers Europe. Currently, Professor Kofler serves as Chair of the CFE ECJ Task Force, demonstrating his leadership in European tax matters.

His international academic engagement is evidenced by visiting professorships at the University of Florida (2013, 2018), University of Sydney (2016), and New York University (2019), establishing him as a globally recognized authority in tax law.
