Prof. Georg Kaufmann is a Professor at the Institute of Geological Sciences, Free University of Berlin, Germany, specializing in mathematical geophysics, global geodynamics, and hydrodynamics. His research focuses on ice-age dynamics, lithosphere-mantle rheology, karst aquifer evolution, and stalagmite growth-paleo-climate links. He has held appointments at the University of Göttingen and ANU, Canberra.
Education: Dr. habil. in Geophysics (2004, Göttingen), Dr. rer. nat. in Geophysics (1996, Münster), and Diploma in Geophysics (1992, Münster). Scholarships include DFG, ARC, and DAAD fellowships.
Research interests include karst hydrology, speleogenesis, and numerical modeling of subsurface processes. Recent work addresses climate impacts on carbonate weathering and collapse sinkhole dynamics. He collaborates on interdisciplinary projects combining geophysics, archaeology, and environmental science.
