Georg Jost is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geography within the Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia. He is a hydrologist who works as a forecaster at BC Hydro, where he forecasts inflows for most reservoirs in British Columbia on hourly to annual time scales.
Dr. Jost earned his PhD from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Science in 2004.
His research focuses on climate change modelling, modelling landscape changes, model calibration, statistical hydrology, probabilistic forecasting, and forecast verification. Beyond his forecasting duties, he works to improve forecasting systems, coordinates Columbia River flows with the US as part of the Columbia River Treaty, and serves as BC Hydro's subject matter expert for climate change modelling.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Jost enjoys climbing, biking, backcountry skiing, reading, and exploring topics such as the universe and consciousness.
