معرفی
Dr Georg Haehner is a Researcher and Reader in the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on interdisciplinary studies at the nexus of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science, emphasizing interface science, functional surfaces, and sensor technology development. His work includes advanced tools for materials characterization, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and lab-on-a-chip technologies. Key research areas involve novel surfactants, surface analytical techniques, and the study of liquid-solid interactions.
Haehner’s group explores applications such as ultrathin organic coatings for functional surfaces, viscoelasticity determination in liquids, and single-molecule insights into biological processes. They also develop eco-friendly catalysts and recyclable polymer-supported systems for organic synthesis. Collaborations span materials engineering, environmental science, and biophysics, with notable contributions to coral skeletal nanostructure analysis under ocean acidification.
His educational contributions include pioneering interactive quantum mechanics simulations for chemistry students. He currently supervises PhD student Archie Stirling and has authored over 10 peer-reviewed articles since 2016, with recent work appearing in Reaction Kinetics, Mechanisms and Catalysis and Royal Society Open Science.
Haehner’s lab integrates experimental and computational methods, emphasizing practical applications in sensor engineering, materials design, and sustainable chemistry.
