Prof. Dr. Georg Cleppien is a Professor of Education with a focus on Social Pedagogical Research at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Augsburg. He has held representative professorships at Rostock, Jena, and Duisburg/Essen prior to his current position.

- DFG scholarship holder in graduate school 'Youth Welfare in Transition' (1999-2003)
- Research Assistant at Technical University of Dortmund (2003-2008)
His research focuses on social pedagogy theories, educational theory, socialization processes, and professionalism in social work. Current work examines the intersection of media studies and systems theory in social work contexts.
Recent publications address image theory in educational science and causality frameworks in social assistance. His methodological approach combines conceptual analysis with empirical social research.
