معرفی
Geoffrey Shapiro, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and holds leadership roles at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, including Senior Vice President of Developmental Therapeutics and Clinical Director of the Center for DNA Damage and Repair. He specializes in early-phase clinical trials focused on cell cycle inhibitors and DNA repair therapies.
Education:
- PhD and MD from Weill Medical College of Cornell University (1987-1988)
- Residency at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston (Chief Medical Resident)
- Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Research Interests: Dr. Shapiro's work centers on developmental therapeutics, particularly in solid tumors. He investigates cell cycle-related proteins, CDK inhibitors (e.g., palbociclib), PARP inhibitors, and combinations with immunotherapies. His research emphasizes translational assays and proof-of-mechanism studies to advance targeted therapies.
Awards:
- Recipient of the 2019 TAT Honorary Award for pioneering contributions to cancer drug development
Leadership and Grants: He leads the Center for Cancer Therapeutic Innovation and collaborates with the NCI’s Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN). His roles include mentoring early-career investigators and overseeing multidisciplinary teams in translational research.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Dana-Farber Center for DNA Damage and Repair and co-leads the Developmental Therapeutics Program at DF/HCC. His lab explores immune microenvironment effects of CDK and PARP inhibitors.
