Geoffrey Ozin is a Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry at the University of Toronto, holding the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Materials Chemistry. He is a globally recognized pioneer in Nanochemistry, having established foundational principles for nanomaterial synthesis and self-assembly. His work spans mesoporous materials, photonic crystals, and nanomachines, with applications in solar fuels, photocatalysis, and sustainable energy solutions. Ozin collaborates internationally, including roles as Honorary Professor at UK institutions and Guest Professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He co-founded Opalux Inc., a nanotechnology firm commercializing photonic crystal technologies.
Education: Studied at King’s College London and Oriel College Oxford, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Southampton University. His career includes leadership in education, co-authoring bestselling textbooks like Nanochemistry: A Chemical Approach to Nanomaterials and its second edition.
