Geoff Heath is an Honorary Fellow in Public Sector Accounting at Keele Business School since August 2010, following roles as a lecturer at Keele and Staffordshire University. He holds a degree in Politics and Sociology from the University of Kent, a PGCE from Liverpool University, and a Lic. Phil (Soc. Sc.) from Luleå University, Sweden. His research focuses on public sector resource utilisation, performance evaluation, and accountability in healthcare, social care, and urban development. He has led numerous funded research projects, including evaluations of health services, policing initiatives, and community programs.
He has supervised doctoral theses on New Public Management in universities and international reporting standards in Libya. As an editorial board member of the International Journal of Emergency Services since 2011, he contributes to academic discourse. His professional memberships include the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the British Accounting Association.
Geoff has received a Social Entrepreneurship award for financial inclusion initiatives and actively participates in community organizations like the North Staffordshire Community Food Network. His career spans NHS finance roles, university leadership (e.g., Head of Accounting at Staffordshire University), and accreditation roles such as Chief Examiner for ICSA Local Government Financial Management.
