Genādijs Šahmenko is an Associate Professor and Leading Researcher at Riga Technical University (RTU), affiliated with the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and the Institute of Sustainable Building Materials and Engineering Systems. He holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering (2005). His research focuses on high-performance concretes, lightweight eco-materials, durability assessment, and non-destructive testing of construction materials. He teaches courses on concrete science and building materials.
He has supervised numerous bachelor's, master's, and doctoral theses, with one successfully defended. Over 60 of his articles are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (H-index 16). He co-authored 10 patents and contributed to over 10 scientific projects. He serves as an expert for the Latvian Council of Science and participates in the Latvian Concrete Association. He is a member of the High Performance Building Materials Professors Group.
Genādijs leads research in material characterization and sustainable construction practices at RTU’s laboratories, including the 3D Concrete Printing Laboratory and Building Materials Laboratory. His work bridges academic research with industry applications in advanced structural materials.
