His research focuses on stochastic processes, queueing networks, financial engineering, and control of large-scale service systems. He has contributed to theoretical advancements in approximation methods for complex systems and their applications in finance and operations research.
Shaikhet holds a PhD in Mathematics from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, advised by Rami Atar and Avishai Mandelbaum. He has taught advanced courses such as Stochastic Calculus for Finance, Monte Carlo Simulations, and Network Performance. His work bridges probability theory with practical applications in smart grids, financial markets, and resource allocation.
His teaching philosophy emphasizes student engagement through initiatives like the Math Kangaroo Adventures program for elementary students and the MathLink course for high schoolers. He has collaborated with institutions including Carnegie Mellon University and the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Mathematics and Statistics (OCIMS).
