Geneviève Mageau is a Professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Montreal. She directs the Autonomy Support Research Laboratory and co-leads the Nos Enfants project, which evaluates the efficacy of the "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen" parenting program.

Professor Mageau supervises numerous Ph.D. and Master's students, including Emilie Lemelin, Laurence Labelle, and Mélodie Roy (2023). She has secured grants from IRSC, FRQSC, and CRSH for projects like evaluating parenting programs and studying psychosocial adaptation in preschoolers.
Her laboratory collaborates with institutions such as the Montreal Biodôme Day Camp, Collège Ahuntsic, and Université d'Ottawa. She teaches advanced quantitative methods in psychology and is affiliated with the Self-Determination Theory research group.
