Genevieve McArthur is a Professor and Honorary Professor at Macquarie University's School of Psychological Sciences. She serves as the Translational Director of the MQ Centre for Reading and Founding Director of the MQ Reading Clinic. Her research focuses on understanding the causes, assessment, and treatment of reading difficulties, with a particular interest in the links between reading impairments and emotional problems. She advocates for translating scientific findings into practical applications.

- Reading disorders, including dyslexia
- Comorbidity of reading difficulties and anxiety
- Neurophysiological methods (EEG, eye-tracking)
- Educational interventions for literacy
Her recent work explores topics like the longitudinal development of reading skills and emotional behavior in children, the use of consumer-grade EEG devices in research, and physiological correlates of anxiety. She has contributed to over 170 research outputs, with active grants including the ARC DP20 project on reading impairments and emotional problems.
