Genevieve Hyacinthe

Genevieve Hyacinthe is Associate Professor in History of Art and Visual Culture at California College of the Arts. Her research examines modern/contemporary art through decolonial, feminist, and diasporic lenses, emphasizing embodied practice and global Black experiences. She is the author of 'Radical Virtuosity: Ana Mendieta and the Black Atlantic' (MIT Press).

Hyacinthe's work connects artistic practice with critical theory, investigating how performance and sculpture negotiate identity across cultural boundaries. Her pedagogical approach integrates phenomenological theories with West African concepts of embodiment and collectivity.
