Dr. Gemma Carney is a Lecturer in Social Policy and Ageing at Queen's University Belfast's School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work. She leads Queen's on Ageing, a cross-faculty initiative, and is part of the Centre for Inclusion, Transformation and Equality (CITE). Her research focuses on cultural gerontology, politics of ageing, and social policy, with a global perspective on ageing societies. Notable work includes Critical Questions for Ageing Societies (2020), nominated for the Richard Kalish Award, and studies on dementia narratives and intergenerational solidarity.
