Geir Christian Johannessen is a PhD Research Fellow at the Department of Nordic and Media Studies, University of Agder (UiA), where he has taught communication and media courses since autumn 2018 across bachelor's and master's programmes. His professional background spans journalism and non-profit organisations.
His research centers on media and communication with specific expertise in journalism, rhetorics, multimodality, and text/discourse analysis. Currently pursuing his PhD (commenced autumn 2022), he conducts qualitative analysis of NRK's children's news programme Supernytt to examine how reality constructions are framed for young audiences.
Recent publications reveal dual research trajectories: Norwegian communication education demographics (2024) and pandemic-era religious adaptations in digital worship (2021). He actively collaborates with Hans-Olav Hodøl and Roy Emanuelsen on journalism/communication education projects within UiA's media research group.
No information is available regarding student supervision or research grants. His work demonstrates strong engagement with practical media applications and societal transformations through communication lenses.
