Gayathri Karthick

Gayathri Karthick is a Lecturer, Postgraduate Research Supervisor (PGR), and Module Director at York St John University’s York Business School, based in its London campus. She is an active member of the Employability and Maker’s Space team, supporting postgraduate students in securing internships and fostering creative learning. With over a decade of experience spanning industry and academia, she began her career as a Senior Software Engineer at Infosys, where she specialized in Data Warehouse Automation Testing and trained new recruits. This industry experience informed her teaching philosophy, emphasizing technology-driven education.

Her academic qualifications include a PhD, MSc, and MPhil in Computer Science from Middlesex University, London. She has also held roles at Middlesex University, Arden University, and St Patrick’s College, London, furthering her interdisciplinary expertise.

Gayathri’s research interests revolve around Cyber Security and Cloud Computing, with a focus on Secure Cloud Environments, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Intelligent Media Edge Computing. Her work addresses challenges like malware detection in cloud systems, authentication protocols for IoT devices, and leveraging edge computing for smart city infrastructure. Recent contributions include exploring AI applications in public health and immersive learning via the Metaverse.

Her career has been supported by involvement in funded projects such as QR and SAAR. These initiatives reflect her commitment to bridging academic research with real-world industry needs. She advises postgraduate students and has mentored teams in both technical and creative projects.

Gayathri actively participates in the Maker’s Space initiative, providing students with innovation platforms and hands-on experience in technology. Her teaching modules include User Centric Design, Big Data in Cloud Computing, and interdisciplinary courses in AI and Data Science.
