Gay James serves as Senior Lecturer in Adult Field Nursing at Coventry University's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. With over a decade of clinical experience across London hospitals including King's College and Guy's Hospital, she transitioned to nurse education after completing SRN training at Westminster Hospital.

James specializes in pain management research and instruction at both pre- and post-registration levels, with core teaching responsibilities spanning first-year anatomy and physiology and second-year applied pathology. Current leadership roles include supporting international students in the one-year nursing theory top-up degree program.
Formerly serving as Course Director for pre-registration adult nursing courses, James has witnessed the evolution from Coventry School of Nursing at Walsgrave Hospital through Coventry and Warwickshire College of Nursing into the current university faculty structure.
