Dr Gavin MacGregor is an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Humanities, University of Glasgow. His research focuses on Neolithic and Mesolithic archaeology, landscape studies, and experimental archaeology. He has conducted excavations across Scotland, including notable projects at North Barr River, Morvern, and Maybole. Dr MacGregor's work integrates environmental, social, and technological dimensions of prehistoric societies, with a particular emphasis on cremation practices, landscape transformation, and public participation in heritage. His research often bridges academic inquiry and community engagement, addressing contemporary issues like Scotland’s energy transition and cultural landscape preservation.
He has authored/co-authored major publications including The Neolithic of Mainland Scotland (2016) and contributed to edited volumes such as Neolithic Bodies (2018). His fieldwork has explored topics ranging from prehistoric settlement patterns to industrial archaeology, demonstrating a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches.
