Gat Rauner is a Research Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, Department of Developmental, Molecular and Chemical Biology. They lead the Rauner Lab focusing on mammary gland stem cells, studying their roles in tissue development, regeneration, and cancer. Their work emphasizes the cellular microenvironment (niche) and uses advanced mammary organoids to model in-vivo tissue dynamics. The lab has pioneered cross-species organoid culture techniques, expanding evolutionary developmental (evo-devo) research.
Education: Ph.D. from Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2016), M.Sc. and B.Sc. from Tel Aviv University (2009 and 2007). Research interests include stem cell regulatory mechanisms, oncogenic progression, and the interplay between developmental programs and cancer. Their recent work explores DDR1 receptor signaling in breast stem cells and TGF-β's role in niche formation.
Publications highlight innovations in organoid models, stem cell niche interactions, and therapeutic targets like DDR1 inhibition. The lab website at www.raunerlab.com provides further details on ongoing projects and collaborations.
