Gary Sweeney is a Full Professor in the Department of Biology at York University's Faculty of Science, where he holds the Tier 1 Research Chair in Mechanisms of Cardiometabolic Disease. He earned his BSc and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow, UK, followed by training at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Sweeney previously served as Chief Scientific Officer and Diabetes Group Leader at Institut Pasteur Korea.
His research focuses on Cell and Molecular Biology with specialization in cardiometabolic disease mechanisms, aiming to uncover molecular pathways underlying metabolic disorders.
