Gary Lind serves as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. His academic appointment places him within the Business Administration department, where he teaches Managerial Accounting courses.
Dr. Lind's research focuses on the intersection between accounting and macroeconomics. His primary areas of investigation include the macroeconomic information content of accounting information, decisions under uncertainty, the externalities of accounting standards, the aggregation of accounting information, and the interplay between monetary policy and accounting information. His work demonstrates how micro-level accounting reports provide valuable insights into macroeconomic conditions and central bank decision-making processes.
His publication record shows strong engagement with top-tier accounting journals, with recent articles in The Accounting Review (2023) and Contemporary Accounting Research (2025). These publications examine how accounting information influences macroeconomic forecasting and how internet search data can predict retail sales patterns. His research demonstrates practical applications for both financial markets and central banking institutions.
Dr. Lind's academic journey includes doctoral and master's studies in management at Rice University, complemented by a B.A. in economics from BYU and an M.A. in economics from Rice University. He joined the Katz faculty in 2019 after completing his doctoral work.
