Gary L. Warren is an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Natural Sciences at Mercy University, part of the School of Health and Natural Sciences. With over 20 years of full-time teaching and research experience, he specializes in computational chemistry, molecular clusters, and interfacial systems. His work integrates reconfigurable computing and quantum Monte Carlo simulations.
Education: B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Newberry College, and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (concentrations in Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry). Previous roles include Associate Professor and Chemistry Department Chair at The College of New Rochelle, and Project Director for a $10M Title III grant.
Research focuses on computational chemistry algorithms, biomolecular force-field development, and FPGA-accelerated simulations. He contributes to Mercy’s curricular development and student success initiatives in the sciences. His publications span high-performance computing, quantum algorithms, and molecular dynamics.
Grants and Leadership: Directed a $10M institutional development grant. Advised students extensively in chemistry and physics. Active in learning assessment and pedagogical innovation.
Labs/Teams: Past postdoctoral research at University of Delaware and University of Tennessee in computational chemistry and reconfigurable computing.
