معرفی
Dr. Gary F. Hinshaw is a cosmologist and Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of British Columbia. His work focuses on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and radio astronomy, with leadership roles in major projects like the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) and the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME).
- Undergraduate: University of California, Berkeley
- PhD: Harvard University
His research spans CMB analysis, HI intensity mapping, galaxy cluster studies, and fast radio burst (FRB) detection. Current projects include the Simons Observatory and CHORD (Canadian Hydrogen Observatory and Radio-Transient Detector).
Recent publications highlight CHIME's contributions to HI emission detection, CMB foreground separation, and Faraday tomography of Galactic magnetic fields. Awards include the 2018 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics and the NASA Goddard Space Science Achievement Award.
