Professor Gary Bosworth is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Deputy Director of the iNCITE research centre at Northumbria University. He previously held positions at the University of Lincoln, including Lecturer/Reader in the Business School and Associate Professor in the School of Geography.
Education:
- BSc in Land Economy, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge
- PhD at the Centre for Rural Economy, Newcastle University
Research Interests focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, and rural development, particularly examining the role of small businesses, migration, and co-working spaces as drivers of rural economic growth. His work bridges geography and entrepreneurship to address challenges in digital rural futures and well-being.
Recent Publications analyze trends in rural co-working spaces and their impact on economic opportunities and psychological well-being. Both studies emphasize the intersection of digital infrastructure, community networks, and sustainable rural development.

Teaching includes rural and regional development, economics, and research methods. He is affiliated with the ESRC Centre for Digital Futures at Work and leads workshops on rural co-working spaces, such as the July 2021 event highlighting innovative rural practices.
