Garett Slater, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor and Apiculture Extension Entomologist at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension in Overton, TX. He leads the statewide Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Apiary Program and supervises honey bee program specialists across Texas. His extension services promote sustainable beekeeping practices and economic development through webinars, specialized courses, and the Texas Master Beekeeper Program.
His research focuses on honey bee breeding and genetics as key components of integrated pest management and colony health. He currently leads a collaborative study with Texas queen breeders to develop modern breeding tools enhancing honey bee colony survival.
