Gareth Jones

Gareth Jones is a Professor in Epidemiology at the University of Aberdeen's School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, serving as deputy head of the Epidemiology Group and chair of the School Ethics Review Board (SERB).

His educational background includes a BSc(Hons), MSc.Econ, and PhD, with epidemiology training completed at the University of Manchester's Arthritis Research Campaign Epidemiology Unit before joining Aberdeen in 2005.

Research focuses on:

• Epidemiology of musculoskeletal diseases and arthritis
• Musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia, and spondyloarthropathies
• Methodological issues in pain studies and drug/disease registries

He supervises graduate research in areas including fatigue comorbidities, spondyloarthritis outcomes, and pain management methodologies while teaching epidemiology across Masters programs and the Intensive Course in Applied Epidemiology.
