Gareth Hulse is a Professor of Oboe at the Royal College of Music (RCM), where he leads the Department of Woodwind. He has held principal oboe roles with renowned ensembles including the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, English National Opera, and London Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, he is a member of the London Sinfonietta, Nash Ensemble, and London Winds.
He studied Music at Cambridge University and pursued advanced oboe training under Janet Craxton and Heinz Holliger. His professional career spans over four decades in orchestral performance, with a focus on classical and baroque repertoire. Hulse’s expertise bridges performance practice, pedagogy, and ensemble collaboration.
