Dr. Gaiyan Zhang is a Curators' Distinguished Professor of Finance and Finance Board Scholar at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she also serves as Chair of the Department of Finance and Legal Studies. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine (with a two-year exchange at UCLA), an M.S. from Fudan University, and a B.A. from Nankai University.
Her research focuses on empirical corporate finance, credit risk, credit derivatives, financial institutions, and international finance. She has published over 30 articles in top journals like the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics. Dr. Zhang has received grants from the FDIC, the Natural Science Fund of China, and others, with her work presented at prominent conferences such as NBER and the American Finance Association.

Dr. Zhang serves as a referee for over 40 journals and has advised on grants nationally and internationally. She teaches courses on international financial management and actively contributes to academic discourse through peer reviews and conference presentations.
