Gail McArthur-Browne is an Assistant Professor in the Contemporary Writing and Production Department at Berklee College of Music. She is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger originally from Glasgow, Scotland. Her professional collaborations include performances with notable artists such as Benny Carter, Gerry Mulligan, Grover Washington, and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. She has been commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council to compose works for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra in 1999 and 2000.
McArthur-Browne has received numerous awards, including the Princes Trust Award and the Cosmopolitan Magazine Performing Arts Award. Her television appearances include segments on U.K. Channel 4, CNN’s Berklee Special, and WBZ4 News. She teaches courses in arranging, music theory, and horn section composition through Berklee Online.
Her expertise spans jazz performance, orchestration, and collaborative composition, with a focus on bridging traditional and contemporary musical practices.
