معرفی
Prof. Gad Galili is a Professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, conducting cutting-edge research in plant metabolic systems. His work bridges molecular biology, biochemistry, and systems-level analysis to decode plant stress adaptation mechanisms.
Research focuses on two interconnected domains:
- Amino Acid Metabolism: Elucidating lysine and aromatic amino acid pathways within transcriptional-metabolic networks, revealing lysine's critical role in stress-associated gene expression and cellular energy regulation beyond protein synthesis
- Autophagy Machinery: Discovering novel plant-specific Atg8-binding proteins (including C2-domain and ER-localized variants) that link autophagy to growth/stress responses through genetic and cell biology approaches
The lab employs an integrated toolkit spanning metabolic engineering, metabolomics, genomics, and bioinformatics to dissect these complex biological systems. Current work emphasizes how primary metabolism converts into stress-responsive programs and the regulatory functions of newly identified autophagy components in plant physiology.
