Gaby Stewart

Gaby Stewart is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy and Deputy Head of the Division of Occupational Therapy and Arts Therapies at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. She joined QMU in 2022 and has practiced in Australia and Germany, specializing in mental health for older adults and community care. Her work bridges policy and practice, with a focus on advocacy for occupational therapy and rights-based approaches for people living with dementia.

Education:

• Qualified as an occupational therapist from the London School of Occupational Therapy (now Brunel University London) in 1988
• Currently pursuing a Master's in International Management and Leadership

Her research interests include the international development of occupational therapy, dementia services, occupational justice, and the impact of environments on individuals with dementia. She integrates policy analysis into her teaching and has a particular interest in frailty and ageing.
