Gabrielle Poole

Gabrielle Poole is the Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Charleston Southern University (CSU), where she has served since 2016. As Founding Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program and later Interim Dean (2022), she played a pivotal role in establishing the college’s academic structure. The College houses graduate programs in Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, and Clinical Counseling, alongside undergraduate programs in Kinesiology and Public Health.

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wofford College (2006), Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) from the Medical University of South Carolina (2009), and Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) in Physician Assistant Education from the University of Lynchburg (2020) with a certificate in Healthcare Administration and Management.

Her research and professional focus includes physician assistant education, global healthcare initiatives, and healthcare administration. She has led medical mission trips to South Africa and Togo, emphasizing community health and international medical outreach. At the national level, she has contributed to the Physician Assistant Education Association through leadership roles and workshops.

Prior to CSU, she worked as a PA in Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina and served on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, including a presidential term. She also directed Global Missions Training for Seacoast Church, reflecting her commitment to integrating healthcare and community service.
