Gabriele Rossi Rognoni

Roles and Affiliations

Professor Gabriele Rossi Rognoni is the Curator of the Royal College of Music Museum since 2014 and holds the Personal Chair of Material Culture and Music at the Royal College of Music (London). He previously served as Curator of the Musical Instrument Department at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence (2001–2013) and Adjunct Professor at the University of Florence (2007–2013).

Research Interests

Rossi Rognoni specializes in organology, musical instrument history, and cultural heritage. His work bridges material culture studies and museology, focusing on preservation, documentation, and interdisciplinary approaches to musical instruments. Key themes include historical instrument attribution, museum curation practices, and the socio-cultural contexts of instrument production and use.
