Gabriele Prati is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology 'Renzo Canestrari' at the University of Bologna. His research focuses on social psychology, mental health, and civic engagement, with particular attention to longitudinal studies examining reciprocal relationships between social factors and psychological outcomes. He explores themes like neighborhood cohesion, religious service attendance, economic status, and pandemic impacts on well-being. His work often employs advanced statistical methods such as cross-lagged panel analysis and longitudinal modeling.
Prati has conducted extensive research on the psychological consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, including media exposure effects, lockdown syndromes, and the interplay between worry and well-being across nations. His studies on gender differences in values and fertility, as well as environmental behavior (e.g., e-waste recycling), demonstrate interdisciplinary reach. He is affiliated with the University of Bologna’s Cesena and Forlì campuses and maintains an active research agenda in public health, social policy, and behavioral science.
His advising focuses on fostering youth participation in civic activities, as evidenced by his willingness to supervise theses on adolescent deviant behavior prevention. Prati collaborates internationally, publishing in top-tier journals across psychology, sociology, and public health. He is currently available to guide thesis projects on adolescent deviance prevention in Cesena.
