Gabriele Casso

Gabriele Casso is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, University of Lausanne (UNIL), appointed in December 2023. He is affiliated with the Anesthesiology Department of CHUV and serves as Deputy Head Physician in Cardiovascular Intensive Care at Cardiocentro Ticino, Lugano. His academic and clinical work bridges anesthesiology, critical care, and emergency medicine.

His educational background includes a Federal Medical Diploma (1996) and a Doctorate in Medicine (MD, 2000) from UNIL. He holds ISFM specialist titles in Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Hospital Emergency Medicine, and has held key clinical leadership roles since 2004.

Gabriele Casso's research focuses on difficult airway management, particularly the development of a high-fidelity virtual bronchoscopy simulator and AI-based 3D reconstruction of pathological airways from CT scans.
