Gabriela Cerghedean

Gabriela Cerghedean is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Modern Languages & Literatures (Spanish) at Beloit College. Her research focuses on Medieval Iberia, particularly the Medieval Mediterranean and al-Andalus. She teaches Spanish language, culture, and literature courses, including Medieval literature and culture.

Education: Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research Interests: Dr. Cerghedean explores Medieval Iberian literature and culture, with a specialization in al-Andalus. Her work bridges historical and cultural analysis, exemplified by her book on oneiric texts in Medieval Spain. She has also contributed electronic transcriptions of key texts like La Celestina and Crónica Particular del Cid.

Teaching & Outreach: She emphasizes student engagement, co-directing the Spain Global Experience Seminar in 2022. She values building relationships with students, encouraging their academic and personal growth at Beloit College.

Publications: Her major work includes a 2006 monograph on dreams in Medieval Spanish literature, alongside book reviews and transcriptions of historical texts.
