Gabriel Tarziu

Gabriel Tarziu is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. He specializes in epistemology, philosophy of science, and philosophy of mathematics, with current research on understanding in climate science.

Research focuses on:

• Epistemology of scientific understanding
• Mathematical explanations of physical phenomena
• Climate model hierarchies
• Ontological foundations of mathematics

Publications examine the intersection of mathematical reasoning and scientific explanation, particularly how mathematical facts contribute to understanding physical phenomena. His MSCA-funded project develops frameworks for climate science understanding through model hierarchies.

He holds an MA in theoretical philosophy from University of Bucharest (2005) and PhD in philosophy of mathematics (2010), with research fellowships in Munich, Brussels, Essen and Ghent.
