Gabriel Ménard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Science. His research focuses on electrochemical energy storage, clean energy vectors, and metal capture from seawater. He leads the Menard Group, with a lab website at menardgroup.org.
- PhD in Chemistry, University of Toronto (2013)
- MES in Environmental Studies, York University (2010)
- MSc in Chemistry, University of British Columbia (2008)
- BSc in Chemistry, University of Ottawa (2006)
Research interests include:
- Electrochemical capture/release of Li⁺ and uranyl ions using carborane chemistry.
- Redox-flow batteries with symmetric phthalocyanine charge carriers.
- Electrocatalytic oxidation of ammonia for clean fuel applications.
- Metal/main-group cooperative reactivity for energy-related bond activations.
Recent publications highlight breakthroughs in redox-switchable materials for uranium extraction and novel catalyst designs for hydrogen atom abstraction processes. His work bridges fundamental chemistry with scalable energy storage solutions.
