Gabriel Moyà Alcover

Gabriel Moyà Alcover is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He is affiliated with the Graphics and Vision and Artificial Intelligence Unit (UGIVIA), Soft Computing, Image Processing and Aggregation (SCOPIA), and the UIB Artificial Intelligence Applications Laboratory (LAIA@UIB). His research focuses on applying Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence to medical environments, with recent work on explainable AI.

• PhD in Computer Science (UIB, 2016): Thesis on "Scene modeling for vision-based interactive systems in rehabilitation contexts"
• Technical Engineer in Management Computer Science and Official Master's in Information Technology (both from UIB)

He has supervised two doctoral theses on medical image analysis and explainable AI, contributed to 20+ high-impact journal publications, and participated in 14 publicly funded projects including serving as Principal Investigator for medical image processing techniques.

His teaching spans Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Programming courses across multiple degrees at UIB, including Mathematics, Informatics Engineering, Physics, and Philosophy.
