Gabor Bella is an Associate Professor at IMT Atlantique, France and a guest researcher in the KnowDive group. His research focuses on multilinguality in computer systems, with emphasis on semantic interoperability, domain-aware solutions, and ethical support for low-resource languages. He leads research and development in linguistic resource generation, bias mitigation in language models, and the UKC lexico-semantic database (http://ukc.datascientia.eu) alongside the LiveLanguage platform (http://www.livelanguage.eu).
Previously, he managed EU-funded projects such as InteropEHRate (cross-border electronic health records), Healthcare Data Safe Havens (medical experiment integration), ESSENCE Marie Curie training network (organizing academic events), and QROWD (crowdsourced transportation data curation). He co-developed the SMATCH tool for ontology matching and led multiple work packages (WPs) in interdisciplinary initiatives.
His work bridges technical advancements with societal impacts, addressing challenges in healthcare interoperability, multilingual data systems, and equitable language technology access.
