G. Narayanaraj

G. Narayanaraj is a Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Environment & Society at the University of Minnesota. Originally from India's Western Ghats, his work bridges field ecology and geospatial technologies to address resource management challenges, focusing on forestry, wildlife, and human-environment interactions. He has taught at liberal arts colleges and universities in the U.S., India, and Central America, emphasizing experiential learning and ethical responsibility.

• Education: Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, Ph.D. in Geospatial Science & Engineering from South Dakota State University, M.A. in Biological Sciences from Smith College, and B.S. in Field Ecology from the University of Vermont.

His research integrates traditional field ecology with geospatial analysis to study landscape ecological dynamics, including forest biogeography, wildland fire distribution, climate impacts on infectious diseases, and butterfly habitat suitability. He advocates interdisciplinary approaches to environmental and geographical science.
