Furqan Asif is an Assistant Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Sustainability and Planning, affiliated with the Centre for Blue Governance. His research focuses on human-environment relations, including coastal fisheries governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development. He holds a PhD in International Development (University of Ottawa), Master of Environmental Science (University of Toronto), and BSc in Biology with an Environmental Science minor (Western University).

He leads projects like SEAwise (EU fisheries governance) and MarineSABRES (biodiversity resilience).
