Fulco Ludwig

Prof. Fulco Ludwig is a Professor at Wageningen University & Research, affiliated with the Earth Systems and Global Change group. His work focuses on the interplay between global change, water resources, and sustainable development. He holds a PhD from Wageningen University (2006) and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Georgia and CSIRO (Australia). His expertise spans climate impact modeling, agricultural systems, and adaptation strategies in Africa, Asia, and beyond.

Research interests include the food-water-energy nexus, climate adaptation policies, and integrated water management. He contributed to major projects like the Bangladesh Delta Plan and Mekong Delta Plan. Currently supervising 19 PhD students and 3 post-docs, his teaching includes courses on climate change adaptation and environmental systems analysis.

Key projects involve developing climate adaptation services (e.g., SWICCA, WaterApps) and assessing vulnerability in water systems under global change. Over 27 research projects have been funded, totaling >8 million Euros, supporting PhD/postdoc research and capacity-building initiatives in developing regions.
