Frédéric Alizard

Frédéric Alizard is an Associate Professor at the University of Lyon 1, affiliated with the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics (LMFA - UMR 5509). He is a core member of the Turbulence & Instabilities research team and serves as the coordinator for the MAM (Modeling and Applications in Mechanics) track of the Mechanical Engineering Master's program.

His research focuses on:

• Transition of shear flows
• Coherent structures in fluid dynamics

Dr. Alizard's recent work examines linear instabilities in fluid flows, particularly studying plane channel flow between compliant walls and subcritical transition phenomena. His research combines theoretical analysis with experimental validation to understand flow-induced surface-instabilities and Tollmien-Schlichting modes. His publications demonstrate expertise in fluid mechanics, with significant contributions to understanding flow instability phenomena across various applications including aerospace and mechanical systems.
